The School is led by Peter, Una and Andrew Kearns who are responsible for the day to day operation of the School.

Peter Kearns, having worked at The Institute of Education for the past 10 years, has now taken over the management of the business from his father and founder of The Institute, Raymond Kearns.
Peter brings to his new role a wealth of academic qualifications and business experience.
On completion of his second level studies at Gonzaga College, Peter studied for his B.Com. at UCD. Having achieved a Masters at Smurfit Business School, he joined KPMG and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998. Peter worked with Merrill Lynch in London before returning to Ireland to work in the family business at Portobello College and The Institute of Education.

Una worked in the area of Recruitment and Selection for both Bank of Ireland and then for Diageo (Guinness). In both companies she was involved in psychometric testing and personality profiling for promotional and senior management positions and dealt with the recruitment and management of both BOI and Diageo’s graduate recruitment programmes.
Una then joined the family business, Portobello College and The Institute of Education in 2002, where she is responsible for Human Resources and the recruitment of all staff for the Institute of Education.

Andrew has been involved at management level at both second-level and third-level in Ireland for over 15 years. At the Institute, Andrew is involved in the development of international student markets. Andrew qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in Dublin before working with Macquarie Bank in Australia. He is also an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute and a member of the Irish Bar having qualified as a barrister from the Honorable Society of King’s Inns.
