Details of our HPAT Preparation course are below;

Day One

This session will deal with each of these three sections individually, working through sample questions in detail. You will also be given the opportunity to try some questions yourself to allow you to apply the strategies provided and develop your confidence.

You will be given the opportunity to work through practice questions ahead of Day Two, to allow you to thoroughly review the areas covered in Day One, improve your exam skills, and further increase your confidence.

Day Two

This session will begin with a brief review of the major strategies discussed in Day One. You will then sit a full HPAT-style examination under realistic conditions, giving you invaluable exam experience. The results of this will allow you to gauge your progress and highlight any sections that may require further work ahead of the exam, to ensure that your efforts are focused on those areas that will yield the greatest benefit.

After the Exam, students will be invited to join workshops in smaller groups.  These workshops will be moderated by tutors that recently achieved exceptionally high marks in the HPAT.  These workshops will focus on specific sections of the HPAT.

The course will conclude with a talk on managing your time, setting realistic and effective study plans, and managing your workload, to help you achieve your potential in both the HPAT-Ireland Admissions Test in February and in the Leaving Certificate in June.

Online Discussion Forum

Participants on our HPAT Preparation course will have access to a moderated discussion forum, from January 2012 to February 26th 2012.  This forum allows HPAT course students to post, specific questions regarding test items or parts of the course that the student is having difficulty with.  The forum is moderated by an experienced creator of HPAT style questions and tests.

The Course Materials

The Materials that will be provided as part of The Institute of Education HPAT preparation course will consist of:
