10 Good Reasons for Coming to The Institute of Education
40 Years' Experience with Unrivalled Success

1. OUTSTANDING RESULTS

The Institute's reputation has been built primarily on its outstanding examination results. No private college can equal our record. For instance, in the Leaving Certificate examination, 7 of our day school students achieved 7A1's or more out of 36 nationwide, in 2007.

2. GIFTED TEACHERS

The Institute of Education’s teachers are renowned for;

  • Teaching excellence and dedication
  • A proven record of exam achievement by their students
  • Their commitment to the academic success of their students
  • Their energy and enthusiasm

Many of our teachers are authors of standard school textbooks, are contributors to educational publications and educational radio programmes. Our teachers are keenly aware of examination techniques and requirements.

3. SUPERB NOTES

While the priority is, and always has been, the excellence of the classroom tuition, the Institute further specialises in providing extra help for its students in the form of notes. Summaries of topics taught, sample papers containing examination-type questions and model answers etc., are given wherever necessary, in order to clarify and reinforce classroom tuition.  These notes help to consolidate what has been learnt in class, and they are most useful for revision.

4. MONITORING

There is continuous student supervision including monitoring of attendance at class, timekeeping, participation in class tests, and general behaviour. A strict disciplinary policy is enforced in the College. Parents/guardians are informed by student monitors on a regular basis if students are missing classes or tests, or are not working to their full potential. The Institute has been to the forefront of Irish Education in our innovative use of technology in monitoring student attendance and progress. Our revolutionary AIMS (Academic Information Management System) is a comprehensive management system designed specifically for The Institute of Education.  The system assists us to manage our enrolment, academic, attendance, timetable and financial transactions.

The Institute of Education can:
  • Automatically update ‘signed in’ students (using Ingersoll Rand HandPunch units which read the students’ unique bio-data and automatically record their attendance).
  • Manage absences / absence reasons.
  • Send Text messages to Students and or parents that are required to contact the school administrators.
  • Maintain a student attendance history, and provide real time reports to parents and Guardians.
  • Allow Teachers to manage their assessments on line.
  • Collate Academic reports and output reports to Parents and Guardians

5. SUPERVISED STUDY

The Institute provides all-day supervised study in two spacious, well-aired study halls. Attendance at day time study is compulsory at the times allotted in each student's timetable. Our results show the effectiveness of this approach on student performance. Supervised study is also available outside school hours: Monday to Friday up to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

6. HOMEWORK AND TESTS

Relevant homework is regularly assigned and carefully monitored. In addition, the student's progress is encouraged and assessed by frequent tests. We believe that careful monitoring of students’ progress is crucial. By identifying and correcting any problem areas early on students are able to optimise their performance at exam time.
Parents are provided with detailed reports at Christmas time and our dedicated student support team are happy to discuss these with the parents and students.

7. STUDY SKILL SEMINARS

Excellent tuition is the basis of our school.  The Institute of Education also provides expert seminars in how to maximise time spent studying.

8. FACILITIES.

The Institute of Education has consistently improved and developed its facilities to support our students and create and ideal learning environment.

9. ACTIVITIES

The Institute of Education, provides students with the opportunity to participate in a number of Extra Curricular activities, including; Debating, Soccer, Kick Boxing, Chess etc.
