  • Students doing sports may wish to start late in the morning to facilitate early morning training
  • Similarly students with afternoon training/activities may wish their day to finish early

  • Admission to the 4th Year Programme is on an individual basis.
  • Suitability for the programme will be assessed at interview.

Extra Curricular activity

If the student wishes to avail of any of the ongoing extra-curricular activities running throughout the year in conjunction with the 5th Year school they may do so.

There will be Institute House Exams held at Christmas, and summer. Students will be expected to perform to the best of their ability at these exams. There are constant Mini-tests throughout the year as each section in the respective subject is completed. These results along with attendance will be displayed on a website which can be viewed by the parent and student.

There will be a Parent Teacher meeting held in January/February. If a parent wishes however, to contact the school at any stage throughout the year to have a meeting, we will gladly facilitate this.

Doing Leaving Cert Requirement Subjects in 5th year

Certain students may wish to consider doing a Leaving Cert in Requirement subjects at the end of their 5th year. They will have completed 2 years of a Senior Cycle. Subjects such as Irish, Maths and One Foreign Language are requirement subjects for entry into most Irish 3rd Level Colleges There is an opportunity to fulfil these requirements at the end of Fifth year and so remove them from the workload in 6th year. Students may then concentrate on subjects that they wish to use solely for points. The above does NOT apply to students who wish to do Medicine; as ALL subjects must be completed in the ONE sitting.
