Peter Kearns - FCA

Master of Accountancy (Smurfit Business School – UCD). Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Having worked at The Institute of Education for the past 10 years, Peter Kearns has now taken over the management of the business from his father and founder of the Institute, Raymond Kearns.

Peter brings to his role a wealth of academic qualifications and business experience. On completion of his second level studies at Gonzaga College, Peter studied for his B.Com. at UCD. Having achieved a Masters at Smurfit Business School, he joined KPMG and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998.  Peter also worked with Merrill Lynch in London before returning to Ireland to work in the family business at Portobello College and The Institute of Education.

Anne-Marie Griffin, B.A., H. Dip. Ed. - Principal of Sixth Year

Anne-Marie joined the Institute in 1977, having taught for several years in Dublin and in Spain. As Principal of Sixth year, she is responsible for the efficient running of the full-time Day School.

Anne-Marie has witnessed the growth of the Institute from a school offering part-time tuition only to a fully integrated Fifth Form and Sixth Form College. She believes that the Institute is an excellent school for the final two years of second level, as it gives students the opportunity to mature as adults in a structured and caring educational environment.

Richard Whealans - Deputy Principal

Richard Whealans holds a BA (Hons), Diploma in European Humanities, B Ed, and an Advanced Diploma in Education. Richard has dedicated his career to supporting students of all abilities and backgrounds to meet their potential in an academic environment.

Richard has worked in education for over 30 years and brings experience, knowledge and wisdom to his role, enriching the lives of students, their parents and our staff. Richard is responsible for the discipline and welfare of our 6th Year students.  

Donal O'Sullivan - Attendance Officer

Donal is responsible for monitoring school and class attendance. Donal and Richard are aided by a staff of three assistants who provide support and assistance to the student body and the School Management.
