The Institute of Education’s 4th Year Programme offers students a distinctive academic option prior to commencing the Leaving Certificate syllabus in 5th Year.

Students have an opportunity to sample a range of Leaving Certificate subjects, selecting a total of 4 subjects from the 5th Year syllabus and participating in these classes with the 5th year students.




Students can change subject throughout the year at Mid-Terms, Christmas & Easter but cannot exceed 4 subjects at any point in time. Group social events are also organised throughout the year.

The following subjects are also available at the Institute of Education at Ordinary Level: English, French, Irish, Mathematics, Special Mathematics (for those only working towards a D3 grade).

Other Subjects:
Higher and Ordinary level will be offered if there is sufficient demand.
