4th YearExtra Curricular Activities

Participation in extra curricular activities is supported in the Institute of Education's 4th Year Programme and students are encouraged to join in any of the activities running throughout the year in conjunction with the 5th Year school.

As well as allowing students to develop initiative and leadership skills, extra curricular activities allow students to discover the value of teamwork, co-operation and participation, enabling them to get the most out of school life.

Activities in which students have participated include:

  • Basketball
  • Chess Club
  • Christmas concert
  • Creative writing
  • Golf
  • Inter School Debating Championship
  • Kick Boxing
  • Show Jumping
  • Soccer Track and Field

Each year, 4th and 5th Year students produce a yearbook showcasing their extra curricular activities. To view the 2011-2012 edition click here (PDF file 2.2MB).

During the academic year students and their parents also receive a monthly newsletter distributed via email with updates on all the latest school news and events.

Christmas Carol Concert 2012

4th and 5th Year students from the Institute got into the festive spirit in December 2012 and took part in a Christmas carol concert to raise much needed funds for the St Vincent De Paul. The concert was very well attended and 10 large hampers full of food, toys and clothes were delivered to the SVP headquarters.
